General InformationI am honored to serve as the President of the Bahamas Agriculture and Marine Science Institute, BAMSI, a leader in tertiary education in the Bahamas.
The Institute has made tremendous strides since our opening on September 29th, 2014. BAMSI has definitely answered the clarion call to provide relevant technical education and training in agriculture, marine sciences, aquaculture, environmental science and agribusiness. As enshrined in our motto, “Feeding Minds, Growing Greatness” BAMSI is the premier tertiary institution for agriculture and marine science here in the country and beyond.
BAMSI is student-centered and committed to academic excellence and innovation. All students extend their learning beyond the classroom through internships and service learning, as well as involvement in one of the many student organizations on campus. Our classes are small, affordable, highly interactive and responsive to the needs of the country.
I am very proud of the individual achievements and success of our students. Some of our graduates have furthered their education throughout the world, some are agri-preneurs, while others have filled the technical gap as agricultural extension officers on various islands. Truly greatness grows here!
In the wake of these successes, the Institute has unveiled many exciting initiatives and trained hundreds through our short courses and workshops, certificate programs, online courses and Summer Educational Enhancement Development Session or SEEDS, which exposes the youth to the joys of the field. Our degrees and programs are registered and approved by NAECOB (National Accreditation and Equivalency Council of the Bahamas) and are internationally recognized and accepted.
The Institute’s partnerships with numerous local, regional and international entities, have further diversified the course offerings and faculty complement and training to produce students who are globally-conscious but country driven.
BAMSI is rearing, a cadre of learners both personally and professionally, to be productive leaders in society with the ability to adapt and thrive in the ever-developing sector.
It is against this backdrop that I welcome you to the Institute and to the BAMSI experience!
