Yes, you must complete the online and practical (on-the-farm) sessions to be awarded the certificate.

The on-line section of the course has 5 modules (sessions). You are expected to complete 1 module per week. Plan to spend 2 – 4 hours a week per module. Theory is intended to help you understand methods and basic science of crops, livestock and aquaculture, so that you will be ready to put that knowledge to work on the farm. Books and information are available on line.

Yes, there is a refund policy. The amount returned depends on when you drop the course, less non-refundable administrative and registration fees. (see refund schedule at the bottom of FAQs)

Yes, the hands-on experience is a very important part of this course and you must successfully complete it.

Of course! Our dedicated and knowledgeable faculty and staff can assist. So use this course to network with lecturers, farm specialist and cooperative staff and obtain useful information and resources. Also, the Ministry of Agriculture, Marine Resources and Local Government has BAMSI-trained extension officers on several islands, who can also provide assistance. 

Once you are enrolled, you will have access to the e-library and other resource materials.

Yes, you will be exempted from the Farm Skills I (2 credit course). You will have to apply for the exemption at the time of enrollment.

In addition to your afterhours clothing and personal hygiene items, you will need to bring long pants, work shirts, farm boots (or closed toed shoes), work gloves and hat.

*Please note that fees do not include transportation to North Andros nor accommodations and meals, additional costs will apply. 

FEE REFUND POLICY:
Refund of fees will be made as outlined in the table below upon official withdrawal of a student from a programme of study at BAMSI, or the dropping of courses in the non-subsidized programme, or under other applicable circumstances:

  • To be official, withdrawal or dropping of courses must be in writing and submitted to the Registrar.
  • The date on which the withdrawal request is received by the Registrar will be used for computing any refund.
  • ‘Days of classes’ are days on which classes are scheduled.
  • No refunds of registration, administration and other fees expressly stated as being non-refundable.
  • If you are expelled or suspended, you will not be entitled to any refund of fees.
