National Flats Fishing Guide Certification for Veteran Guides Program 2024 - 2025

This program is meets The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources, requirements to provide the pathway for non-certified, experienced fly-fishing guides to obtain certification to become fully licensed to operate in The Bahamas.The program consists of classes in industry best practices, and standards to maintain the integrity of fly-fishing in The Bahamas, trends in tourism, financial and personal development.

Eligibility

Participants are required to:

possess a Bahamian passport or a Bahamas voter’s card
have 10 years or more experience as a fly-fishing guide in The Bahamas
provide professional and personal references, from reputable independent fly-fishing guides, or lodges domiciled and doing business in The Bahamas for 10 years or more
be at least 35 years old (by December 31, 2025)

Requirements:

In addition to the documents listed above, participants must present a copy of their Captain License, B- Class, STCW and Bahama Host*. These documents must be received by the registrar before being issued with a certificate of completion in Flats Fishing.

The program schedule:

Participants are expected to attend 20 hours of in-person classes.
Course Duration: 3 days (8:30 am - 5:00 pm)
Training Centers: National Training Center, New Providence

This program consists of two (2) training sessions only. The first opens in September 2024 and closes November 30, 2024. During which time, participants who successfully completed the course and submitted all documentation would be issued with the Flats Fishing Certification. The second training session is in September 2025.

This price is non-refundable, non-transferable and includes tuition, course materials and administration. Lunch and snacks are included.
